I Love You Because wins Certificate of Merit for Direction at KCACTF Region 5!

January 24, 2019

On January 24th I was honored with a Certificate of Merit for my direction of "I Love You Because" from the Kennedy Center American Collage Theatre Festival. When I directed "I Love You Because" in the Spring of 2018 at Wichita State University, it was adjudicated by a representative for KCACTF. After viewing the production, the adjudicator then decides if any elements of the production are "truly exceptional" and deserves a nomination for a Certificate of Merit in that area of production. Then KCACTF holds a Selection Meeting to consider the nominations before presenting the awards at their annual Festival Awards Show. I am so honored and humbled to receive such an incredible award for the direction of "I Love You Because." And I would like to thank every person who contributed to that show, because this award is for the entire cast and crew as it wouldn't have been possible without every single one of them. I am so grateful to my advisers for lifting me up and allowing me to make such a beautiful piece of theatre and putting their trust in me to direct.

Skull for Skull staged reading

I was cast in a reading of a new play, titled "Skull for Skull." The play is written by Lucas Miller and Directed by Lisa Sillaway Henshall. Bush, stole Geronimo’s skull to keep in the clubhouse of the Yale secret society, Skull and Bones. Despite repeated lawsuits the skull is never going to be returned, so a group of Native American friends go on a road trip to steal Prescott Bush’s skull for ransom and retribution. Skull for a Skull is a theatrical exploration of racial double standards, the moral and practical consequences of violent protest, and the story of one hell of a road trip.
